Fabulous 2012 LWC Soccer team honored in Frankfort National Champion Lindsey Wilson Men's Soccer Team honored by Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear, Kentucky House and Senate Click on headline for full story with all the names and hometowns, photo(s) By Duane Bonifer Sports news from Lindsey Wilson College FRANKFORT, KY - Members of the Lindsey Wilson College NAIA national champion men's soccer team were honored Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Kentucky State Capitol. The players and coaches were congratulated by Gov. Steve Beshear, and they were recognized on the floors of the House and Senate with resolutions. LWC won the program's ninth NAIA title in December. The 2011 team finished the season 23-0. LWC coach Ray Wells was also honored with a resolution in each chamber for being named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Men's Soccer Coach of the Year by the NAIA and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Wells' teams have won nine NAIA national titles since he started soccer in 1990 at the liberal arts college. The players and coaches who were recognized were: Moses Aduny of Kampala, Uganda; Anyelo Avila of Indianapolis; Samuel Asante of Sunyani, Ghana; Sicelo Buthelezi of Johannesburg, South Africa; Edward Campbell of Kingston, Jamaica; Charles Carpenter of Bowling Green, Ky.; Yazeed Davids of Mitchells Plain, South Africa; Kirk DeBoer of Port Elizabeth, South Africa; Albert Edwards of Brisbane, Australia; Lwandiso Gonya of Cape Town, South Africa; Mat Luak of Croydon, Australia; Musa Mawanda of Kampala, Uganda; Lebogang Moloto of Auckland Park, South Africa; Tomas Moody of Devon, England; Yuta Nomura of Tokyo; Carl Pettersson of Umea, Sweden; Philip Sandgren of Kristinstad, Sweden; Renan Marcel Serafim of Sorocaba, Brazil; and Hezekiah Weiss of Berea, KY.
