Proud to be part of Adair County

By Eric Graves, ACHS Football Coach

Even though the Adair County football team lost Friday night, it was a blessing to see them play hard and have class.

I would rather loose with class then win without class. You can be proud that they represented this county with class.

I am also proud of the way our Lindsey Wilson football team played this weekend. For a first year predominately freshman team they are awesome. Keep up the good work Coach Oliver, staff and players.

Last but not least, how about the Adair County High School Band. They are the "Best Band in the Land." Great job Mr. Case and the band. It is a great weekend to be from Adair County. -Eric Graves

Poetry by Robert Stone: Possibilities a sonnet

Poetry by Robert Stone: Possibilities a sonnet Possibilities- a sonnet for the Main Street Museum, WRJ
Not only mouth but head I say spew out
the good, the bad, the shaped, the shapeless, all
the changing spots on palette, self to shout,
or unused self to hide, shown great or small.

The heart is keeper of the truth as known.
The kindly heart is seeking more from life
and when a joyful masterpiece has grown,
unkindly cuts it free with freedom's knife.

Those things within that will all else ignore,
those passions smarting with creative urge
will find their ways, escaping from the core,
of hope as possibilities emerge.

Too many cries and silence are the same
for one appears too fierce and one too tame.

- Robert Stone, 26 September 2010

Borrowing an idea from the popular book series "... for Dummies," I had a brainstorm for a story that begged writing.

While sitting in my recliner feeling sorry for myself, I was rebelling at the prospect of wasting thirty days of my life in a sea of nothingness waiting for my new glasses. When you are 85 years old, you don't have too many "thirty days"s to waste!.

Russell Co., KY will help neighbors through Pumpkin Crisis

Mr. Ed,

According to Mary Joe and her co-workers of French Valley Farm, Saturday morning, there is no shortage of pumpkins in Russell County. Come and buy all you want. Other counties experiencing shortages, large or small, are coming to Russell County everyday. She also stated that should they sell their whole crop they would purchase additional pumpkins from a trusted source in the Glasgow area.

I remain respectfully,

s/John E. Moss
