By Rick Wilson, Adair Co. Coroner

There was a tremendous response to the 3rd Annual Adair County Medication Take Back Program from people wanting to dispose of their expired or unused medications.

Forty five people brought medicine which weighed fifty nine pounds.

The Take Back Program washeld in the Parking Lot at Taco Bell, 899 Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY.

It was joint operation of the following agencies:

  • The Adair County Judges Office
  • The Adair County Solid Waste Management Program
  • The Adair County Coroners Office, The Adair County Sheriffs Office
  • Columbia City Police Department
  • The Adair County Ambulance Service.
I believe we had surpassed last year in the first two hours. Now the medication will be transferred to DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) where it will be incinerated.

This worthwhile program will be continued annually. Rick Wilson
