Joey Tucker one of 10 finalists in national contest

Hey Ed,
At the end of last year I was bored one night and entered a contest that stride gum was having where you name their newest flavor. I recently received a package from them and I am one of 10 finalists in the contest.

You can go to www.stridegum.com and my name choice was "Mintfinity." If I win I get $10,000.00 and a year supply of stride gum.

Would appreciate your vote, pass on the news.

It is kind of fun to have a local guy in a national contest.

June 14 is Flag Day

June 14th is Flag Day and I would like to see all businesses, homes and churches flying flags on that day and the week that follows. We could just decorate our yards with flags. Usually the president makes a proclamation to make it flag week that week but we could just go ahead and fly them proclamation or no proclamation, just patriotic. -MAURY LEWIS

Wants to board, work on Adair farm suitable for chickens

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I am looking for a farm to move to where there are quality buildings capable of housing my 125 chickens. I am also willing to look in your area for some usable sheds and outbuildings that I could hire to have moved to your land for the chickens.

I'm able to be a farm employee, or I'd gladly rent living space on a farm. I want an area to grow my open pollinated vegetables and herbs. I do not want to hear from folks who may have land for me to use but no proper living situation.

Comment: If old courthouse pays bills, safe access is a must

Problem not in preserving old Adair County Courthouse, but on finding a way to help it pay the bills. Safe access is a major issue, writer says

By Billy Joe Fudge

I appreciate Rachel Lyon's comments about Columbia and our very special Adair County Courthouse. She is right and I think that nearly every Adair Countian whether they live here or somewhere else would agree with her. The Adair County Courthouse is what makes Downtown Columbia something special.

The problem is not in preserving the Courthouse but in making it pay the bills, so to speak.
