CU names Bob Wade new dean of School of Nursing By Joan C. McKinney, news and publications coordinator CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University has employed Bob Wade, chair of nursing at St. Catharine College, as the new dean of the CU School of Nursing, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, president. Wade, who has a R.N. and M.S.N., will begin work at CU July 1. 2009. "We are delighted to have the caliber of leader as Mr. Wade join our School of Nursing," Carter said. "Our nursing program has grown to an outstanding program, in its second year of existence, and we know Mr. Wade will move us forward to the next level." Wade has served at St. Catharine since November 2006. He is a registered nurse through the Kentucky Board of Nursing, and the American Heart Association has certified him as a CPR for healthcare provider. He also belongs to the National League for Nursing. The CU School of Nursing offers a two-year program leading to the associate degree in nursing. The degree prepares the graduate to function as a generalist and to practice in a variety of positions in a variety of clinical settings. Wade is working on a Ph.D. in leadership in higher education from Capella University. He has a master's of science in nursing administration from Bellarmine University which he received in 2002. His bachelor of science in nursing was received in 1997 from Spalding University. Wade served as a nurse manager in the acute psychiatric unit at Central State Hospital in Louisville from January 2006 until November 2006. He was clinical coordinator/N205 facilitator at Jefferson Community College from June 2001 until January 2005. Wade was adjunct facilitator RN-BS completion program at Indiana University Wesleyan from 2005 to 2006. From February 1999 to August 2001, Wade served as clinical resource nurse at Clark Memorial Hospital. He also was a charge nurse from February 1997 to February 1999 at Central State Hospital in LaGrange, KY. Campbellsville University's associate degree program has limited enrollment and therefore admission is selective and competitive. Applicants must be officially accepted into the program prior to enrolling in any nursing course. Applicants are considered on the cumulative GPA of prerequisite courses, ACT scores and/or NLN pre-Admission Examination. Transfer students will be accepted using same criteria and on a space available basis. Graduates of the program are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
