Good fall weather is creating successful 2008 Arts and Crafts Festival at the Giles House today, Saturday, October 4, 2008, one of the major Kentucky cultural events of the Fall Season.

A large number of vendors are on hand, the weather is cooperating beautifully, and great food is being offered by the Giles Society, prepared by grill chief cook Chris Watts and co-chef Charles Sparks.

Obituary: Judy Lane Claywell, 66

Mrs. Claywell was member of a respected South Adair County family and of the Sparksville Church of the Nazarene. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY.

Judy Lane Claywell, 66, 312 Adair Avenue, Columbia, KY, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008, at 1:03pmCT, at the Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, KY, after several months illness.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 6, 2008, at 2:00pmCT, at the Fudge Cemetery, Breeding, KY, with Bro. Larry Wisdom officiating.

    English as Second Language courses offered at CU

    CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Again this year, Campbellsville University's Department of English as a Second Language will offer free "ESL in the Community" classes for international persons in this and surrounding communities in need of gaining or improving their English language skills.

    The program has begun, but there is continuing open enrollment. Meetings are on CU's campus in Winters Dining Hall in side room D from 9amET to 10 amET on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

    Author/storyteller entertains, inspires ACMS students

    On September 30, 2008, Roberta Simpson Brown visited Adair County Middle School to entertain students and parents with her famous gift for storytelling. Sponsored by Title 1 and the Youth Services Center, Mrs. Tammy Rich was able to issue an invitation to a renowned favorite author of her Library students.

    Indians win 47-8 over Casey County at Liberty

    Adair County Football won it's first game of the season on Friday night, October 4, 2008, with a score of 47-8, as they traveled to Casey County to take on the Rebels. The Rebels came into the game with a 1-5 record.

    Sleep cited as cause of midnight accident on US 68

    KSP Post 15, Columbia, KY, POLICE REPORTS

    The driver of a 2004 Chevrolet said that he fell asleep when he left the roadway of US 68 near the Lebanon, KY, Super Wal-Mart and crashed, according to the Kentucky State Police report.

    Dustin Weber, 18, Cox's Creek, KY, was taveling eastbound on US 68 when his vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, went airborne, and struck a sign and overturned. The accident occurred shortly after midnight Eastern Time, at 00:13am Saturday morning, October 4, 2008.

    ACHS Class of '94 - Craig's Classmates Relay for Life Team will be having a 3-on-3 beach volleyball tournament on Saturday, October 4, 2008.     "43 Plays for 43 Presidents" will be staged on October 2-October 4, 2008 at 7:00pmET/6:00pmCT, and Sunday, October 5, 2008 at 2:00pmET/1:00pmCT in the University Theater (just north of Ransdell Chapel) on the campus of Campbellsville University. General admission to the play will cost $5, while Campbellsville University faculty and staff tickets are $1 and CU students get in free with their student ID.
