Rivermen of the Cumberland Chapter 3

By Chris Bennett

Chapter 3: "Day One, Creelsboro to Burkesville"

On Saturday June 2nd, I worked at the music store until 2:00 pm. That morning I checked the river elevation and flow on the Internet. I made the decision not to start at Wolf Creek Dam; the water levels would be just too low. Winfrey's Ferry became my next choice. It would have deeper water, but I would loose about 14 miles of beautiful river scenery, including "The Rock House". I didn't have a choice boats need water to float, and I didn't want to jeopardize the trip, over 14 miles.

Queen of the Kitchen apologizes for goodies shortage

But disappointed cinnamon roll buyers will get another chance to sample them at the Homemaker's Bazaar on November 22, 2008

ColumbiaMagazine.com

The girls and I just wanted to say thanks for listing our Really Big Huge Yard Sale in ColumbiaMagizine.com. We had a great turnout yesterday and I think that everyone went away with a treasure or two.

I am sorry that we couldn't fill all the requests for cinnamon rolls we were completely sold out by about 7:30amCT. We had to turn away about 25 customers. There is hope though I will be baking them again to sell at the Homemaker's Bazaar November 22, 2008. Just remember that they sell fast so don't be late!

'So Jesus Found His Missing Years'

With Apologies to John Prine and Biff

All of the four gospels of the New Testament canon leave a large gap in the life of Christ. By covering the missing years from just after his birth to about age 30, Christopher Moore in his novel Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal [William Morrow, 2002] has performed a delightful, believable, reverent, irreverent service.

Cal Turner, CEO of Turner Family Foundation and Dollar General Corporation will be featured speaker at Sunday, September 14, special observance. Congressman Ed Whitfield, Rev. David McAllister-Wilson will visit growing church north of Coburg, KY, where Rev. Don Watson has been pastor since 1988

By Duane Bonifer

Twenty years ago, Asbury United Methodist Church could have held most of its services in one of its members' living rooms as the church rarely had more than 10 people at a service.

Today, the church at 9600 New Columbia Road on the Adair-Taylor county line is a thriving faith community of more than 220 members. Weekly attendance averages more than 100.
