Democrats have one week to file 51st District candidate

Democrats in Adair and Taylor County have one week left to file a candidate to replace Doug Mullins, who withdrew for health reasons.

The Executive Committees of Adair and Taylor County Democratic Parties will name the candidate. Under state election laws, the party must name a replacement candidate within 10 days.

The nominee will face John BAM Carney, who won the Republican primary in May 2008. Mullins had been unopposed.

Among the names being mentioned at this time are former Adair County Judge Richard L. Walker, Dwayne Loy and also his son, Ben Loy, and Taylor County real estate agent Rufus Hansford.

At the moment, Hansford appears the most likely. Judge Walker said that he has had many calls to enter the race, but he is primarily focusing on his real estate business, the development of Holladay Place, and grandchildren.

Larry Smith, WHVE FM 92.7, is following this store.

Letter: Happy to be moving to such nice community

    To ColumbiaMagazine.com

We placed an ad in ColumbiaMagazine.com because we were searching for housing for our upcoming move to Columbia. We received several responses and all were so nice and welcoming. Through the ad, we were able to find a home that will suit our family quite nicely. Thank you for this wonderful website. It has been a great way for us to get to know a little bit about Columbia. Although we will miss our friends in the Louisville area, it is good to know that we are moving to such a nice community!

    About: Reclaiming Burkesville Street

    To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Thanks to those that added comment to taking reclaiming Burkesville St. Donna, I enjoyed your comments. Right now Burkesville Street is very dangerous, with high speeds and careless driving.

Those who live on the lower end next to Save A Lot will agree with this as it is an every day event. There is lots of congestion and nothing slows the racers down, especially in the late evening time.
