Democrats have one week to file 51st District candidate Democrats in Adair and Taylor County have one week left to file a candidate to replace Doug Mullins, who withdrew for health reasons. The Executive Committees of Adair and Taylor County Democratic Parties will name the candidate. Under state election laws, the party must name a replacement candidate within 10 days. The nominee will face John BAM Carney, who won the Republican primary in May 2008. Mullins had been unopposed. Among the names being mentioned at this time are former Adair County Judge Richard L. Walker, Dwayne Loy and also his son, Ben Loy, and Taylor County real estate agent Rufus Hansford. At the moment, Hansford appears the most likely. Judge Walker said that he has had many calls to enter the race, but he is primarily focusing on his real estate business, the development of Holladay Place, and grandchildren. Larry Smith, WHVE FM 92.7, is following this store. 2008-08-14 06:50:00 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Politics
