Reclaiming Burkesville Street: Out of towners like idea

About: Reclaiming Burkesville Street

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Thanks to those that added comment to taking reclaiming Burkesville St. Donna, I enjoyed your comments. Right now Burkesville Street is very dangerous, with high speeds and careless driving.

Those who live on the lower end next to Save A Lot will agree with this as it is an every day event. There is lots of congestion and nothing slows the racers down, especially in the late evening time.

Safety and a good flow of traffic is the utmost concern. Even though I would really like to see a town square developed in my life time. Safety always comes first. There are only so many officers and they can't be everywhere at one time.

I think our city police have done a great job and deserve a pat on the back they respond asap to emergencies and all calls for help. With Labor Day just around the corner we can expect and hope to enjoy the local activities in town. I hope the locals show extra courtesy to our visitors and welcome all new comers.

I have been getting e mail from my friends out of town. They enjoy this thread and think it is a good ideal. Most are originally from Adair County, but some don't think feel their opinions on this would make any difference.

Let us all enjoy life and maybe the speeders will read the article and be more law abiding.

s/Alice Wheeler
