Kentuckian in SF/Oakland ponders merits of eating:
There vs Here

Hard-core foodie Kentuckian is enjoying vast array of ethnic foods in California but longs for the genuine thing: Real Kentucky food. She's drawn home, but wonders about diversity of ethnic foods in here. The article is posted to elicit comments slanted toward convincing here that we have it all together here, especially with the influence of the international collegiate community in our area -EW
Commentary inspired by "The Epicurean Kentuckian: Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop

By Tami Wilson

Just wanted to say that I'm finding the "Kentuckian Epicurean"photo series quite interesting.

I am a hard-core foodie myself, and sometimes ponder the idea of possibly moving from my current home in the San Francisco/ Oakland area. The part that would be hardest for me to leave, I think, is the vast array of gastronomic choices here.

Feedback: Church says Welcome inside

About: "Scenic Adair Co, KY: Columbia, City of Churches"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

We do have many beautiful churches in Columbia, and Adair County, KY.This one in particular is an outstanding serene scenic church. I agree with this article as I have posted before.

Burkesville Street could be the street that is transformed into a little square we could all enjoy...and yes this church has that special look...welcome inside..Jesus loves you.

I enjoyed this article and the awesome picture.

Tom Chaney review #170 August 10, 2008:
Beyond the Light of Day

Of writers and their books. Book review by Tom Chaney of Under Ploughman's Floor By Red Watson

Beyond the Light of Day

Richard A. (Red) Watson knows cave country in a way that most of us natives can only dream of. He and his wife, Dr. Patty Jo Watson, have made parallel careers for themselves in our neck of the woods. In fact they have made our hills, valleys, and what's beneath much clearer for those of us willing to listen.

Gas question: Does premium gas get better mpg?

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

For the past several months I have been wondering about the feasibility of purchasing premium gas over regular gas. Since I can remember there has always been close to 10 cents a gallon differance in price among the three grades of fuel.

This amazes me that the octane cost has been constant even with the cost of oil more than tripling.

By simple math and using a vehicle that averages 20 miles per gallon, one would have to realize an increase of ten percent on the mpg to benefit by buying premium gas.
