Green Co., KY, Bible Institute, CU sign academic credit pact

Students will receive credit at University for course work at Zion District Association of Baptist's Bible Institute, located at Summersville in Green Co.

Campbellsville University and the Zion District Association of Baptists, and its Bible Institute, signed an agreement recently to grant academic credit for courses taught at the Bible Institute.

The Institute is located at Jacob Grove Baptist Church in Summersville, KY. The agreement begins with the 2008-09 academic year, according to the Rev. John Chowning, Vice President for Church and External Relations and Executive Assistant to the President.

Airplane makes emergency landing on KY 61 S of Burkesville, KY

POLICE REPORTS

Kentucky State Police investigated an aircraft incident 3 miles south of Burkesville at 6:30pmCT, Wednesday evening.

David M. Long, age 51, of Burkesville was flying a 1993 Kitfox 4 airplane when he experienced engine faliure and was forced to make an emergency landing on KY 61.

No injuries occurred the aircraft sustained minor damage.The incident was investigated by Trooper David T. Long (no relation to the pilot David M. Long) of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.

WKU Ranked 26th in nation in Sports Illustrated

Western Kentucky University sports program highest of any Kentucky major college, even U of Louisville, the only other "best of the rest" listed from Commonwealth. Wildcats of United Kingdom, Lexington, KY, not mentioned

Sports Illustrated has released their list of the top 50 athletic programs for the 2007-08 year, based on a formula of national and conference finishes in 11 men's and 11 women's sports. Mrs. Brown was a member of Hutchison Community Church and a much respected Adair County family and a homemaker

Geneva M. Brown, 76, 723 Mack Street, Columbia, KY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, at 4:25am, at her home.

The funeral service is Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 1:00pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST., Columbia, KY, with Rev. Elbert Hadley and Rev. Lewis Burton the officiating clergy.

Concrete pour Friday to bring Crocus Creek Wall to full 12 Ft.

Earlier Photo: Start, Overview of Project

The third course of the 300 ft. long Crocus Creek Wall will be poured at around noon on Friday, July 18, 2008, if all goes as scheduled.

The concrete pour will bring the great wall to its full 12 foot height.

The announcement came from Lisa Lee for the office of Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton.

The huge wall is being built to stop undercutting of the Melson Ridge Road by Crocus Creek. Funds to build the massive structure were authorized in the administration of Governor Ernie Fletcher.

Confronted by rising gas prices and citing Kentucky's traditional role as a leading energy producer, Governor Steve Beshear on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, said now is the time for the state to lead the nation to an era of energy self-sufficiency.

The Governor and Energy and Environment Cabinet Secretary Len Peters today unveiled ways in which the administration will explore all options in meeting that goal.
