Plum Point Young at Heart take Wild, Wild West Trip

Eleven day trip takes group through 11 states, with stop to see Lance Burton in Las Vegas
With photos, list of intrepid adventurers

On Monday, June 30, a group of forty-two travelers from the local area as well as surrounding counties and states left Columbia for a trip out West.

The group traveled through eleven states including: Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, California, and Nevada.

Abigail Thompson wins blue at State Communication Day at UK

PHOTO, ABIGAIL THOMPSON

Abigail Thompson, the 10-year old daughter of Rodney and Amy Thompson of Columbia, received a blue ribbon on her demonstration at the State 4-H Communication Day on Saturday, July 12. 2008.

Her demonstration, present at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, was entitled, "Having Fun Making a Pillow."

Abigail will be in the fifth grade this fall.

This is her first year to give a 4-H demonstration.

I wanted to comment about the beautiful Phalaenopsis Orchids: Moon Orchid.I've always been fond of the orchid family. Everyone is, but I have a special interest in them because my father raised so many different orchids. With over 200 different hybrids to choose from, one could fill a room rather quickly--as my Dad loved to do.

Obituary: Kenneth Wheeler, 77, US Army veteran, Korea

Kenneth Wheeler, 77, Columbia, KY, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 10:18pmCT at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

The funeral service will be Sunday, July 13, 2008, at 2:00pm, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, with Rev. John Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Liberty Road, Columbia, KY.
