I think that Dr. Gerald Chafin, the LWC guest soprano Margaret Garrett, and the Lindsey Wilson Concert Chior did in fact deliver their best ever Spring Concert last night at the Columbia Christian Church.

This will be your chance to showcase your singing talent in front of others, with a chance at becoming Columbia's 2008 Relay Idol, and performing at this years Relay for Life. Derby Breakfast will have Lincoln history show

The Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History is bringing Abraham Lincoln to the Capitol grounds this year in celebration of the Governor's Derby Breakfast, set for 6:00amCT/7:00amET to 10:00amCT/11amET, Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Capitol.

Visitors to the Capitol grounds will have an opportunity to tour the Kentucky Historical Society's (KHS) new HistoryMobile exhibit, "Kentucky's Abraham Lincoln." This popular exhibit explores Lincoln's frontier childhood, his career from log house to the White House, and his struggles to end slavery and lead the nation through the Civil War.

Purdy SBC Relay team singing, silent auction, supper

The Purdy Separate Baptist Church Relay for Life team will be having a singing, silent auction and supper on Saturday, May 10, 2007, starting at 5:00pmCT in the fellowship hall. The singers will be "Driven" from Russell County.

We will have grilled burgers, chips, drinks and desserts and hope to have lots of good items for the silent auction including homemade cakes. If you have any questions or would like to donate an item for the auction please contact Rhonda Akin at (270) 250-3954.

We also have extra cookie dough for sale including: Chocolate chip, chocolate chunk, sugar cookie, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, double chocolate brownie, and chocolate mint chip.

Extension Homemaker Leader Training: Travel Kentucky

The Homemaker Leader training will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008 beginning at 6:00pmCT, at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service.

The topic will be "Travel Kentucky." Kentucky has a vast array for travel destinations for not only out of state travelers, but also for in state travelers.

Traveling Kentucky can save us money due to the fact that our transportation costs may be reduced as well as the fact that lodging may not be necessary.

Increased tourism in Kentucky adds tax revenue at both the state and local level.

This program is free and open to the public.

The 2008 Columbia/Adair County Fire Department/Pinewood Crusade for Children Annual Golf Tournment drew 91 entrants this year, and though it ended in rain, all golfers were able to finish.The tournament was held in memory of avid golfer Sam Bivens, who died January 3, 2008.
