Together again: Jim Caywood & Maximus, alias Maxi

WANTED POSTER

Believe Jim Caywood's idea if you like. He's a big man and it will probably stand, though we have another notion.

In either case, this latest chapter in the biographer of Maximus, alias Maxi has ended happily. Maxi is no longer at large.

We posted this classified, along with a Wanted Poster of Maximus, alias Maxi, this morning, Monday, April 28, 2008, for Jim. It read:
Have you seen Maximus?
Maxi is Jim Caywood's dog. He's very friendly. He has had a close haircut since this photo. This photo shows his orange collar, which was not on him yesterday, Saturday, April 26, when he disappeared. His home is 314 Morrison Road, just behind the little roadside park on KY 55 South, one mile south of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway out of Columbia. "He actually looks like a lamb," his owner says. Please call Jim Caywood at (270) 385-9740 if you have any information about Maximus.
A little while ago we got this note from Jim, "Ed, Guess who showed up like nothing had happened at 8:30am? I guess he is old enough to have a girl friend."

We can call off the search. Our notion: Maximus alias Maxi, came home when he learned there were wanted posters out on him on the internet. It's just a theory, so there's no way Donnie Melson can have us arrested for lying on the internet, a serious, serious crime in Adair County.

We're not saying Maxi can go online all by himself. Scant few dogs are regular readers of ColumbiaMagazine.com.

But it isn't it reasonable that this great dog, obviously more intelligent than some humans we know, saw his picture on the internet, read the message, and returned before Jim Caywood had a conniption fit?

Regardless, it's great that Maximus is back, at least for the time being, whether the www played a role or not. -EW
