Obituary: Tommy VanArsdale, 52, dies suddenly

Mr. VanArsdale was a member of a large, highly respected Adair County family. At the time of his death he was a farmer in the Bliss Community. He was the former owner of a South Central Kentucky trucking firm.

Tommy VanArsdale, 52, the Bliss Community, Columbia, KY, passed away suddenly Friday, March 21, 2008, at 9:15pm at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. William Davenport the officiating clergy.

Classified ad: Reward offered for lost parrot

We lost a small parrot (sun conure) on Rt 92, 3-17-08. The bird has a bright yellow head and body, orange around the eyes and green wings. Answers to Squeeky. Might try to land on someone in the open. Flew towards open pasture. Might be in Glensfork, Jamestown or surrounding areas. I'm offering a $100.00 reward if caught unharmed. Just an oversight on the Dairy Dip Menu. You might let them know theyforgot to list their corn dogs on the online menu on Columbia Magazine.com.

Tomorrow marks not only Easter Sunday for our family, but also my 23rd wedding anniversary.

This one will be a bit different than in years past, as my husband is on his way to Iraq for a year. He's already been gone for over a month training for this deployment.

  • Great 2008 LWC women's basketball team almost made it

    Raiders come from behind to tie NAIA Nataional Tournament quarterfinal game with Lewis-Clark (Idaho) at 43-43 with 12 minutes left, but cold shooting denies team which already made history the opportunity to advance to semi-finals of NAIA National tournament

    JACKSON, TN - The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team's season ended here tonight to Lewis-Clark State (ID) College with a 73-61 loss in the NAIA National Tournament second round at Oman Arena.

    The Blue Raiders (22-12) shot just 33.8 percent (23-of-68) for the game and were never able to get on track offensively en route to the season-ending loss.

    The Ole Home Place Relay For Life Team is having a Bake Sale at Wal-Mart on Jamestown Street on Friday, March 21, 2008 and Saturday, March 22, 2008 beginning at 9:00amCT. They will have a variety of baked goods including cakes, brownies, fudge, fried pies, etc. as well as hot dogs and finger sandwiches.
