Letter: So thankful for columnist's stance on clean-up Comment on "GIGO Diary, for 2008-03-20: A recycling consciousness" To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I am so thankful that Barbara is taking this stand for making our community a cleaner place to live and at the same time raising our consciousness concerning recycling. We all, which includes me, must join her and others in their efforts. I will say that most times it is somewhat uncomfortable and unsettling to go against the way things have always been, even when one knows it is the correct course of action. Several years ago during a time that demanded that I get off the fence by making a decision that went against the status quo, I was told something by someone far wiser than me. He said, "Billy Joe, if you are not a part of the solution, then you must be a part of the problem." I submit that if we will begin to measure our "activity" and our "inactivity" by this standard, we will be moved to actions of greater integrity and consciousness. s/Billy Joe This story was posted on 2008-03-22 12:51:03
