South Cental Kentucky Go Tell Ministries plans fall crusade

The South Central Kentucky Go Tell Crusade ministry, an inter-denominational local group, is organizing events that will bring Rick Gage back to South Central Kentucky for a September 14-17, 2008 crusade. ACHS Seniors yard sale, Academic Team bake sale March 8, 2008

Go Tell Crusade planned for South Central Kentucky Region

Event will be September 14-17, 2008, at Campbellsville High School

The South Central Kentucky Go Tell Crusade ministry, an inter-denominational local group, is organizing events that will bring Rick Gage back to Campbellsville-Taylor County for a September 14-17, 2008 crusade. The group came together for a planning lunch in the Campbellsville University Banquet Hall to hear Gage on February 27, 2008.

Evening services during the Crusade will begin on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Taylor County High School football stadium and continue nightly through Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Pastors and lay members of many area churches will be involved in the nightly services as well as Rick Gage and Go Tell Ministries staff.

PRIDE honors Columbia's Barbara Armitage

Eastern Kentucky PRIDE has named Barbara Armitage as the PRIDE Volunteer of the Month for March 2008. The Columbia resident was honored for her caring for the environment as a volunteer at the Adair County Recycling Center and Adair County Garden Club.

"Barbara has played a major role in recruiting new people for our recycling program," said Adair County Judge/Executive Ann Melton. Melton and A.L. Sinclair, the county's Solid Waste and PRIDE Coordinator, nominated Armitage for the PRIDE award.

4-H Shooting Sports meeting March 3, 2008

EVENTS

We will be holding our next 4-H shooting sports meeting on Monday, March 3. The meeting will start at 5:30pmCT. and be held at the Adair County Sportsmen Club. If you cannot get there right at 5:30prmCT. that is fine, come when you can. The meeting will last till around 6:30 or 7:00pmCT. Be sure to bring your archery or riflery equipment. ACHS girls basketball in 20th district finals tonight

Win or lose in championship games, teams advance to Region 5 tournament.

The Adair County Girls opponent in the finals of the 20th District Tournament will be Marion County. The championship game will be at 7:30pmET at the Taylor County Gym, Campbellsville, KY, today, Friday, February 29, 2008.

The Adair County Boys Basketball play 20th District championship tomorrow night, Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Taylor County High School in Campbellsville.

Adair Food Pantry hits all time record high of families served

Heart of Adair: Adair Countians helping Adair Countians

More folks whose budgets are strained by high gasoline, heating fuel, and other utilities felt pinch in February 2008 when Adair Co. Food Bank, located on MLS Office Park Drive in Columbia, served 259 families.

At a meeting held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 the Adair Co. Food Bank cooridinator Stephanie Long told the board that the Food Pantry had served a new all time record high of families in February 2008.

Ms. Jane Fiegle, historical preservation specialist to be at ACPL

Heartland Parkway, Coburg and Cane Valley areas, and the Section 106 process will be subjects at this Adair County Genealogical Society meeting

The Adair County Genealogical Society would like to invite everyone to the Monday, March 3rd meeting at 6:00pmCT to hear Ms. Jane Fiegle. Ms. Fiegle is a senior historic preservation specialist who will be talking about the section 106 process and how it relates to the Heartland Parkway.

This will deal mainly with the Coburg and Cane Valley area. If you live in this area or have a historic home, business or farm in this area then this would be a great opportunity to learn how this process could affect you.

Seven new names added to the Adair Veterans List

Priscilla Richards sent seven names to add to the ColumbiaMagazine.com list of Adair County Veterans.

They bring the Cape family breakout to four names, the Kelly family to four names, and the Morrison family to five.

Gymnast Hannah Koller wins top honors at Somerset

Granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Wheeler of Columbia is also active in Ownesboro theater

Gymnast Hannah Marie Koller received high-point honors last week at the Stars and Stripes Super Invitational meet in Somerset, KY.

Koller is a member of Johnson's Elite Power Tumbling Team in Owensboro. Koller placed first in the Novice 13-14 year old division and had the highest overall score. She has been an all around gymnast for 7 years.
