Adair Food Pantry hits all time record high of families served

Heart of Adair: Adair Countians helping Adair Countians

More folks whose budgets are strained by high gasoline, heating fuel, and other utilities felt pinch in February 2008 when Adair Co. Food Bank, located on MLS Office Park Drive in Columbia, served 259 families.

At a meeting held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 the Adair Co. Food Bank cooridinator Stephanie Long told the board that the Food Pantry had served a new all time record high of families in February 2008.



The Food Pantry has served 259 families in February. Many coming in for help with food for the first time in several months.

With the high cost of gasoline, heating fuel and other utilitites it has just caught many people in a harder place than ususal.

"We are proud to be able to help our counties people in this way," said Cooridinator Stephanie Long.

Richard Phelps Treasurer of the Food Pantry said "Area churches help us each and every month financially and some individuals make donations that allow us to buy the food to help those in need and for this we are extremely grateful."

The Food Pantry is located on the MLS Office Park Drive complex behind Prescription Shop in a building owned by Mike Stephens.
