Go Tell Crusade planned for South Central Kentucky Region Event will be September 14-17, 2008, at Campbellsville High School With one photo By Linda Waggener, assistant director of CU communications The South Central Kentucky Go Tell Crusade ministry, an inter-denominational local group, is organizing events that will bring Rick Gage back to Campbellsville-Taylor County for a September 14-17, 2008 crusade. The group came together for a planning lunch in the Campbellsville University Banquet Hall to hear Gage on February 27, 2008. Evening services during the Crusade will begin on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Taylor County High School football stadium and continue nightly through Wednesday, September 17, 2008. Pastors and lay members of many area churches will be involved in the nightly services as well as Rick Gage and Go Tell Ministries staff. "We first saw Rick Gage when he hosted last year's summer camp at CU," Dr. Skip Alexander, co-chair of the group with Keith McMahan, said. "He helped many to make decisions for Christ then and we were impressed with the quality and integrity of his ministry in the spirit of the Rev. Billy Graham which sets him apart. We decided it needed to be expanded," he said. Dr. Alexander said that the group is grateful for co-chair McMahan's lay leadership role in revivals over the past two years. The executive board of the group includes Dr. James Jones, general chairman; Dr. Alexander and McMahan, co-chairs; Larry Noe and John Chowning, co-financial directors; and Brenda Patton, secretary. The Go Tell Crusade is not just for Campbellsville-Taylor County. "We are in the process of making contacts in neighboring communities and inviting churches and individuals from the region to become involved in the planning and preparation for the crusade," Dr. Alexander said. "There is a role for any individuals who want to be involved in this important evangelistic and outreach effort." The biography on his website, gotellministries.com, highlights that it was in 1986 when Rick Gage walked away from a promising career coaching football and surrendered his life to full-time evangelistic ministry. A few years later, he became the founder of Go Tell Crusades Inc. He has since been conducting evangelistic events around the world and has seen tens of thousands make commitments to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Texas native takes his Go Tell Crusades into small towns. He has been called the "Billy Graham of small town evangelistic crusades." His annual Go Tell Youth Camps have reached tens of thousands of students and their leaders from churches across the country. As a result, thousands of students have come to Christ or surrendered to full-time ministry. To further impact the youth of America, Rev. Gage has delivered his nationally acclaimed "On Track" assembly program to more than 2 million teenagers in our nation's schools. This program confronts young people's abuse of drugs and alcohol. In addition, he has appeared on numerous radio and television programs. He is the author of his autobiography "More Than a Game" and a Bible Study Download which helps young people and adults grow in their faith. Rev. Gage, his wife Lynne, and their daughters Sara and Anna, live near Atlanta, GA.
