The 14" line is part of the system to get water from the Adair County Water Treatment plant at Coburg over to the huge 500,000 gallon water tank at Shepherd on KY 206. Quilt Barn Trail is closer with great one on US 127 in Russell Co. The Betty Sue Jasper photo posted today on ColumbiaMagazine.com shows a "Quilt Barn" on US 127 in Russell County, KY. She's hoping to capture all of them. We'd like to help her with the project. The article below is an October 24, 2007, KY Tourism Department story about the Quilt Barn movement in Eastern Kentucky. By Bob Adams, KY Department of Tourism Kentucky has long been known as a center for the sewing of colorful quilts in many patterns and designs. But over the past several years, painted quilt patterns on the sides of barns in Kentucky have emerged as a new form of self-expression and cultural pride for rural residents. Efforts are getting underway to coordinate the painting and erection of colorful wooden quilt blocks on barns in eastern Kentucky and elsewhere to form trails that can lure travelers off of interstate highways onto back roads, bringing tourists into rural areas that need an economic boost.
