Delmer S. Upchurch, 99, member, Columbia Baptist Church COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM OBITUARIES Mr. Upchurch was one of Columbia's most treasured citizens. He was a respected and successful businessman, a 40 year member of the Columbia Baptist Church, was active in civic affairs, and was a member of the Columbia Utilities Commission. I am in agreement with Ralph's comments in many regards, including the fact that the CJ is generally biased toward rural Kentucky in general and our region in particular. The only time they cover events in our part of the Commonwealth is when there is a tragedy or otherwise negative news. There is an arrogance on the paper's part, and it has long been evident. I also remember the early days of what is now I-65 as I traveled extensively in the late 50's thru mid 60's between Montgomery, AL, and Ft. Wayne, IN. The accident occurred on Tuesday morning, January 1, 2008, just after midnight, 4.2 miles south of Albany, KY on US127. According to Kentucky State Police, Reynolds was in the middle of the road when the accident occurred.
