Feedback: Heartland Parkway advocate supports I-66 story

COLUMBIAMAGAZINE.COM LETTERS & FEEDBACK
Response to:"It is time to develop all of Kentucky to its potential," by Ralph Waggener

To Ralph Waggener c/o ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Please extend my congratulations to Ralph Waggener on his article regarding the Courier-Journal's recent attacks on the proposed I-66 interstate. I am in agreement with Ralph's comments in many regards, including the fact that the CJ is generally biased toward rural Kentucky in general and our region in particular. The only time they cover events in our part of the Commonwealth is when there is a tragedy or otherwise negative news. There is an arrogance on the paper's part, and it has long been evident.

Thank you for noting the importance of the Heartland Parkway project as well. Columbia-Adair County, Campbellsville-Taylor County, and the entire Heartland region of the state. Ralph has stated the positive impact and importance of both of these projects to our part of the state as well as well as to this entire part of the United States.

Yes, both projects will take years to accomplish. This part of the state has much to offer in terms of quality of life, cost of living, beautiful scenery and tourism potential, some great schools and higher education institutions, and wonderful people - as we work together on these and other projects, we will continue to make tremendous progress in the years ahead.

Thanks, Ralph, for expressing your views. I concur!

s/John E. Chowning
