Lindsey Wilson Singers to celebrate Sounds of America

By Duane Bonifer

This school year will have several firsts for the Lindsey Wilson University Singers. They will perform under a new director, and the members of the university's premier vocal group learned Sunday evening that in 2025-26, most of them will explore a new part of America as well as a new part of American culture.

At the conclusion of the school year in May, the choral ensemble will head to Michigan, where they will perform at several of that state's historic locations, including famed Mackinac Island. The tour will take place when the national commemoration of the semiquincentennial of American independence will be nearing its July 4 crescendo.

"As we turn this page of a new era in Singers history, I want you to think of this as a new journey," said first-year Director of Choral Activities Jennifer Bersaglia. "This will be an exciting buildup to a spring performance and a tour that's going to coincide with the 250th anniversary of American independence."

In celebration of the American spirit of innovation and independence, Bersaglia told the Singers at a Sunday-evening reveal ceremony outside of the W.W. Slider Humanities Center that their concerts will include selections from the Great American Songbook. A pre-tour concert will be held in April.

Blue Raider Band performing on a Blank Canvas

By Duane Bonifer

The Lindsey Wilson University Blue Raider Band has treated the campus and area community to several performances in August. The miniconcerts have been infused with the high level of energy and enthusiasm that first-year Director of Bands Robert Palmer has already injected into the rising program.

The Blue Raider Band turned up on move-in day to perform a noon Saturday concert for Lindsey Wilson students and their family members, and later that evening performed at Adair County High School's Mark Twain Pre-Season Exhibition.

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, the marching band will give its first halftime performance at a weeknight home Lindsey Wilson football game when the Blue Raiders open the 2025 season against Texas Wesleyan University at Parnell Family Stadium.

To say it has been a busy two months for Palmer since he took over the program in early July would be an understatement. But that's just how the veteran music leader likes things.

"I look at this season as a blank canvas," Palmer said during the Blue Raider Band's preseason camp. "We are finding our sound, we're finding our style, and we're finding how we identify ourselves. That's very exciting."

Basketball: Brangers leaving Indians Head Coach position

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

Coach Jordan Brangers announced he is stepping away from the Adair County High School head basketball position in a post on X on August 25, 2025. Coach Brangers led the Indians through the 2025 summer ball season, but will depart Adair County having never coached a regular season game.

Brangers said in his tweet, "After much reflection, I feel that my calling at this time is to continue working with athletes from across the state, helping them develop their talents and reach the fullest potential." Brangers coached individual players prior to him taking over as head coach at Adair County, he went on in his tweet to say, "I will now be back FULL TIME training with Proficient Skills Academy."

The Tribe is yet again without a head coach, but an announcement on this is expected soon as the situation continues to develop.
