Families waited to cheer for their favorite player

By Linda Waggener

The Adair County High School boys basketball team is in Lexington ready to practice and play in the Sweet Sixteen tournament - the first time since 2009. They had a wonderful sendoff from home Tuesday morning with the whole community excited for them and so very proud of them.

I had the honor of waiting downtown with Sandy Crawhorn, grandmother of Camden Burton, #15, son of Destiny and Eric. Only a grandmother can know the motivation of standing out in the cold wind to wait for the bus carrying her first grandchild to go around the square. She and I talked about how fast the years since first grandchildren have gone by, and how wonderful the journey is.

Sandy said she finally got her red haired grandchild in Camden. He is also the grandson of Murrell and Karen Burton and they are recruiting him into their real estate business after graduation. He has a little sister, Aubrey Greer, 7, and brother Zane Greer, 14.
