Celebrate National Library Week next week, April 3-9 By Kim Saylor Brannock Frankfort, KY - To celebrate National Library Week from April 3-9, 2022, the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) is partnering with the Lexington Public Library to offer a statewide job fair for Kentuckians in approximately 25 counties, including Metcalfe County. In addition, public libraries across the state will recognize the contributions of public libraries by encouraging Kentuckians to visit their libraries in person or online to explore and use services and programs. "We are celebrating public libraries across Kentucky because they are making a difference in people's lives in so many ways with so many free resources. During the pandemic, libraries went above and beyond their normal services to keep their communities connected and provide important services. However the South did and would even hire dentists from private practice. Lanterns & Tombstones Cemetery Walk coming Friday The initial Columbia City Cemetery Walking Tour will take place at 7pmCT this Friday night, April 1, 2022, in conjunction with Columbia's "To-the-Nines" downtown event. Dave Thomas and Mike Watson will lead participants through various parts of the 210 year old graveyard, pointing out bits of interesting lore along the way. This is a walking tour through the historic cemetery and participants are encouraged to wear good shoes, bring a jacket if it is cool, and your enthusiasm.
