Golf: LWC Men claim 2nd straight tourney win at Carey Collegiate By Christopher Coombs Gulf Shores, AL - The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team picked up their second straight tournament victory with their first-place finish at the Carey Collegiate Classic. The Blue Raiders posted an 883 (296-295-292) across three rounds of play. The No. 23-ranked Blue Raiders won the event by seven strokes over William Carey (MS). Lindsey Wilson also bested the No. 4-ranked team in the NAIA in Southeastern by 10-strokes. Key to the Blue Raiders success was low scoring from Sebastian Sandin and Callum Burns who finished in a tie for first and fourth place respectively. Janik Hawlitzky also cracked the top-10, finishing his two rounds in eighth place. The event is being held at the Gulf Shores Golf Club a Par-71, 6,745-yard design. Lindsey Wilson led the field in scoring on par-3s (3.29) and par-4s (4.30) with the second-best mark on par-5s (4.90). LWC added the most pars and eagles with 158 and two, respectively. They also managed the second-most birdies with 33. Sandin posted a 216 (74-70-72). He finished in a three-way tie for first place with William Carey's Conner McKelroy and Southeastern's Matthew Soucinek. He lost the individual title in a playoff. Burns carded a 219 (70-76-73) as Hawlitzky posted a 222 (75-75-72). Emil Gruhn just missed out on the top-10, finishing his day in 13th place following a 226 (77-74-75). Shane Henderson was the final Blue Raider in action in a tie for 33rd place with a 239 (83-77-79). Lindsey Wilson returns to play on April 4-5 when they compete at the Mid-South Conference Spring Championship in Crossville, Tennessee at Bear Trace Cumberland Mountain Golf Course.
