Phillip Coffey - Folding Laundry

FOLDING LAUNDRY by Phillip Coffey
Yesterday is long gone, but yet it visits in the hidden shadows
With thoughts that be heavy lit or those that don't really matter.
Grimly they creep into the mindset - sometimes most debilitating.
But, OH! the pleasure of the laughs aloud - that be rehabilitating.

'ERASE, ERASE', he says my deepest thoughts that be so troubling
'But please, no'- would he then have a heart ever so fully giving?
Moments of much distress may soon lead to humble creativity.
But much better still is forgiving - bringing friend and foe together.

Governor Beshear presents funds for Taylor, Green Counties

2022-02-12 - Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Larry J. Smith, General Manager, The Big Dawg, FM 99.9 radio.
On Friday, February 11, 2022, Governor Beshear presented a ceremonial check to Campbellsville Water & Sewer and Green/Taylor Water District of Greensburg. This money will be used to make needed improvements to the water infrastructure in Taylor and Green Counties.

Among the funding announced during the Governor's visit to Campbellsville on Friday, the City of Campbellsville will receive $804,197 to upgrade aging water treatment plant equipment, including filters and sedimentation machinery, which will improve the quality and supply of water provided to customers.

Rep. Michael Sarge Pollock, who represents District 51, said, "Safe water is something every person should have access to and this program will ensure that every person has access to it. The strengthening of Kentucky's critical infrastructure is extremely important and the Cleaner Water Program is a step in the right direction."

About those rising electric costs from TRECC

Veronica stayed on the phone to get answers to her high electric bills. A clerical error is partly to blame, as are extreme cold temperatures and rising costs in general. Expect some of the increases to stick around for at least another month.

By Veronica Arnold

I was one of many many customers who were shocked by their last electric bill. The Taylor County REC Power Cooperative had a wait time on the phone for over 60 minutes when I first called. I had the time so I stayed on the phone waiting. I had questions and needed answers.

For example: my bill tripled in cost. My wattage usage increased from around 1200kwh to over 3000kwh. What's going on here? Even in the barn, which has its own meter, doubled and there aren't any large appliances or heating units out there... What's going on?

Actually, the customer service agent was very helpful. She was patient and answered every one of my questions as best she could. We went day by day and discussed appliances and settings for them. We looked at averages for me and other costumers. She even stated that Taylor County Rec can spread the large bill over several months without any actual in person visits to the office being required. She said there are ways to help and was ready to start when I just said, "Please help."

This Week at the Kentucky State Capitol

By Mike Wynn, LRC

Frankfort, KY - The sounds of a legislative session have a flair all their own - the rollcall vote, the crack of the gavel, the chatter on the chamber floor. During the sixth week of the 2022 legislative session, it was the voice of a Louisville fourth grader that brought all ears to attention.

Nine-year-old D'Corey Johnson kicked off the annual Black History Celebration on Tuesday with a rendition of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" that climbed all 212 feet of the Capitol dome. When he belted out the national anthem for the Senate, the normally reserved chamber couldn't help but hoot in applause.

The performance was a perfect fit for a busy week in the General Assembly, which included a visit from Kentucky Men's Basketball Coach John Calipari, a spirited debate on unemployment benefits, and action on a host of other measures related education, children, health and taxes.

Video: What about Jesus? What about you?

By Scott Spires

I wrote this song about 3 or so years back. Easy cords and easy to sing. I heard a comment while channel surfing I didn't like. Wrote a song about it. I sang it to my barber. On a slow day we recorded it in his shop.

The song raised over $1000 for Haitian mission work. Voodoo people wanted to curse me (Didn't work). One voodoo person got saved along with 100s of others. Never been to Haiti in my life. Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
