Basketball: LWC Women open season with road victory By Kyle Jackson New Albany, IN - The No. 16-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team got their 2021-22 season underway Wednesday evening with an 83-67 road victory over IU Southeast (IN). This is the second straight season the Blue Raiders have defeated the Grenadiers to open the season. The Blue Raiders finished the contest shooting 42.3 percent to the Grenadiers 40.3 percent while hitting 17 of 23 free throws. Lindsey Wilson also outrebounded the hosts 50-36 and collected 12 steals in the match. Bree Glover led the Blue Raiders on the night scoring 18 points and recording 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. LWC Swimming tackles worldwide hunger By Kyle Jackson Members of the Lindsey Wilson College men and women's swimming teams are taking time from their fall schedules on Thursday to raise money for a good cause. The Blue Raiders plan to canvas the Columbia-Adair County area to raise money for the Heifer International -- a global nonprofit organization, working to eradicate poverty and hunger through sustainable, values-based holistic community development. "I like the educational aspect of Heifer International," Lindsey Wilson swimming coach Alicia Kemnitz said. "They don't just provide an animal or crops to the people; they teach them how to get the most out of them while sustaining the benefits long term." Nemak adding 170 jobs with Glasgow expansion By Crystal Staley/Jack Mazurak Frankfort, KY - Today, Gov. Andy Beshear announced even more growth for Kentucky's automotive industry, as Nemak USA Inc., a manufacturer of innovative lightweight products for powertrain, e-mobility and structure applications, will create 170 well-paying jobs with a $27 million expansion of its Nemak Kentucky operation in Glasgow to support future electric vehicle-related business. "The growth of our automotive industry during this record-breaking year for economic investment has been remarkable, and we are seeing more companies increase their focus on EV-related products," Gov. Beshear said. "Nemak's expansion will not only add to that growth, but also create a significant number of high-wage jobs for residents in Barren County and the surrounding region. I applaud Nemak's decision to expand and look forward to many more years of success for the company in the commonwealth." Vote totals by precinct for Adair County Special Election Voting ended at 6pmCT last night in the November 2021 Special Election to fill the seat for Kentucky State Representative for the 51st District, which was ordered by Governor Beshear after the passing of the late John (Bam) Carney (1969-2021), who had held the seat since 2009. The 51st district covers all of Adair and Taylor Counties. There were several ways to vote in the November 2 special election, including mail-in absentee ballots, in-person absentee voting, and votes on Election Day.
