Christmas in Columbia 2021 kicks off with Dec 4 parade

By Ellen Zornes, Executive Director
Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce

The Columbia-Adair Chamber of Commerce can't wait for this year's 30th Annual Christmas in Columbia Celebration and Parade to be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021.

The parade will begin at 6pmCT and will follow the usual route from the Industrial Park on South Hwy 55, down Jamestown Street, around the square and ending on Burkesville Street.

All floats or entries registered to be judged need to be at the Morgan Smith Lot by 4:30pmCT. To register or for more information call the Chamber of Commerce at 270-384-6020. It is shaping up to be one of our best parades!

In addition to Santa and Mrs. Claus, ACHS Band, ACHS Jr. ROTC and Shriner's, we would love to see a lot of decorated floats in this year's parade around the theme of 'Home Town Christmas'.

Our parade marshals this year representing all our 'Local Heroes' will be Signature Health Summit Manor and be represented by Angie McAllister and Tasha Harden who will light the Christmas Tree on the square that is donated and decorated by Adair County FFA.

We will be honoring our many local home town heroes who have helped us during the pandemic and have meant so much to all of us.

If your group of heroes would like to participate in the parade, please contact the Chamber of Commerce to register by Friday, November 19, 2021, at 270-384-6020 or email at coladair@duo-county.com.

Each group is responsible for its own parade vehicle or float and signage.

Also any delegate as well as Lil' Mr. and Miss, Pageant winners, etc. are invited to participate but must also register and provide own vehicle and signage. We are also looking forward to the return of our classic cars that also must register.

In addition to the parade, the historic Trabue Russell House on Jamestown Street will be open from 11amCT to 1pmCT on December 4. The City of Columbia invites all to stop by and enjoy the period decorations provided by Mary Anne Loy. The house is also available all year for events. To reserve your event time call Woody Sharpe, City Clerk, at 270-384-2501.

More Christmas 2021 Events
'Christmas at the Park', drive through lights display sponsored by the City of Columbia will be held at the Little League Park located in the Industrial Park off Hwy 55 South beginning December 10 through Christmas, from 5pmCT to 8pmCT each evening. Come check out our local business and organization's beautiful light displays.

The drive through is free. However, donations are accepted at the end of the drive through to help defray the cost of the electricity for the lights.

And, please find the red mailbox (made and donated by the ACHS welding class) for all children to leave their letter to Santa. Be sure to include child's mailing address so Santa can answer them!

On December 10, 11, and 12, 2021, LWC management class will be part of the drive through with free candy and other activities to be announced (a tote is located behind City Hall to accept any candy donations). This is taking the place of the usual Children's Carnival which had to be cancelled due to COVID restrictions.

Also on December 17 and 18, Bloomington Chapel will be presenting a live nativity during the Lights display.

'Lights on the Farm' will be displayed again this year at 65 R. Holmes Road, 10 miles out, on the left, off Hwy 206.

'To the Nines' shop local event will take place on and around the square Friday, December 3, 2021, from 6pmCT until 9pmCT. Come join us, shop and get in the Christmas spirit.

We are looking forward to seeing you during Christmas in Columbia!
