KY 3rd in nation for new daily COVID-19 cases per capita

By Crystal Staley/Sebastian Kitchen

Frankfort, KY - On Monday, September 13, 2021, Gov. Andy Beshear said Kentucky currently ranks third in the nation for the highest number of new daily COVID-19 cases per capita, with a seven-day average of approximately 90 new cases reported per 100,000 people.

"I am asking you to break the Thanksgiving dinner rule and have a tough conversation with those you love and care about who are hesitant to get the vaccine," said Gov. Beshear. "It won't be easy. But they are more likely to listen to a friend or family member, and that one conversation could save their life."

The Governor highlighted a recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study that found people who were not fully vaccinated this spring and summer were more than 10 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 11 times more likely to die of COVID-19, than those who were fully vaccinated.

Letter: a writing spider or garden spider

James Roberts writes:
This spider is known around these parts as a writing spider or garden spider. The scientific name would be Aranea Lobato. They come in different color schemes.

They are very helpful especially around gardens. They eat common pests like mosquitoes and wasps. They are harmless unless they are threatened in their webs. They will also sway back and forth on their web if they feel threatened such as getting to close to them. You also know that when you see them as large adults that fall is close.
