Letter: Old houses tell a story

George Kolbenschlag writes:
When I see old homes like this I can't help but think about all of the joy and sorrow, the pleasant surprises and disappointments, that must have been part of the lives of folks who lived here over the years--the births and deaths, the departures and homecomings and the wonderful family dinners and Christmas celebrations.

With this particular home, I also wonder if that siding might hide a much older home than appears in the photo. --George

Holiday message: Lord grant us peace

By Rob Collins, Q104

In recent years, I have significantly reduced activities in my life, meaning that I'm really only involved with things that I most enjoy and can best utilize my skills and insure that I remain optimally healthy.

Prior to that, I was one incredibly busy person. I was also major burned out. I still work hard, but not to the degree that I become miserable. Also, I'm no longer caught up in the overspending movement of the holidays. When it comes to gifts, I share them throughout the year, as I feel inspired. Turns out that people love receiving kind expressions, when they least expect them, even on a random Tuesday in April.

It has been game changing and given me a lot of personal peace. However, as I walk through a store to buy a few groceries, I am very aware of the oppressing stress, fatigue and heaviness going on around me.
