Masel Lee McKee, Casey County, KY (1928-2018)

October 02, 1928 - June 19, 2018 (Age 89)

He was a farmer, carpenter, and a member of Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and will be accorded military honors by performed by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard at committal rites. He was a member of a respected Casey County, KY, family, the son of the late James T. McKee & Ruby E. Hughes McKee. His wife, Helen Cravens McKee, survives, as do six sisters. His only children preceded him in death. With his passing, six of the 11 siblings born to James T. & Ruby McKee survive.

Darlene Marie Robertson, 83, Russell County, KY (1935-2018)


She was a homemaker and a member of Clear Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was born in Wayne County, KY and was a resident of Russell County at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Fred Roe & Sophie Mae Smith Burton, and the widow of Arnold Travis Robertson. She was the matriarch of a very large, highly respected family. She leaves 50 direct living descendants spanning four generations. Her final resting place will be in New Friendship Cemetery in Russell County, KY.

Taylor County Grand Jury returns indictments Tue 19 Jun 2018

Indictments brought against 18 individuals from Lexington, Columbia, Lebanon, Magnolia, Greensburg, and Campbellsville, KY, and Amelia, OH, on charges including trafficking, possession, theft, sodomy, and tampering with physical evidence.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The pasture is in bloom. Bee balm, Queen Anne's lace, black-eyed Susans, butterfly weed, wild petunias, all sorts of grasses, white clover, yellow clover, a few clumps of late-blooming daisies, wild asters . . . I don't have to do a thing except look out the window and view the beauty God has provided!!!

And blackberries are ripening in the pasture, so if I want to stroll through the pasture for a closer look at the bounty of wildflowers, there will be nutritious snacks available!

Two vehicle collision at LBN Pkwy Exit 46 results in injuries

Pineville man, exiting parkway onto Burkesville Road, turns into path of vehicle driven by Columbia woman. He was transported by Adair EMS to TJ Health/Columbia. She was later taken to same hospital by private vehicle. Adair County Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident.

Mary Etta Sapp Dudgeon, Taylor County, KY (1933-2018)


She professed faith in Christ as a young girl and followed her faith for Christ through her life. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. Mary Etta was an employee of the Taylor County Clerk's Office for some 23 years, a member of the Taylor Republican Women's Club for many years and a long-time proprietor of Sapp's Lake in Merrimac, KY. She was a beautiful lady inside and out and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved everyone deeply. She was a member of old-line pioneer and leading South Central Kentucky families. She was the daughter of the late John Floyd Sapp & Cleo Cave Sapp, and the widow of Donald A. Dudgeon. She leaves leaves nine direct living descendants including an expected great granddaughter.

Margie Ann Sneed Elsler, 78, Adair County, KY (1939-2018)


She was retired from General Electric in Louisville, KY, and was a former member of One Community Church in Clarksville, IN. She was a Kosair Shrine Greeterette and past President as well as the Eastern Star, Shrine Apet Guild and a past Maharanee. Her final resting place will be in her native Adair County, at Jones Chapel Cemetery, near Gradyville, KY.She was a member of a prominent Gradyville, Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Roy Claudius & Stella Baker Sneed. She was one of 10 siblings, nine of whom preceded her in death. Her husband of 34 years, Robert A. Elsler, survives. She leaves three direct living descendants. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.

ACSO investigates 3-vehicle injury collision on Heartland Pkwy

One vehicle was stopped to make a turn onto Farris Road, was struck in the rear by a pickup which was unable to stop and turning vehicle was knocked into the southbound lane where it was struck a second time by a southbound dump. truck. Two occupants of car attempting to turn taken to TJ Health/Columbia by Adair EMS. Occupants of pickup sustained minor injuries. Driver of SB dump truck also taken to T.J. Health/Columbia. The accident is under investigation. ACSO was assisted by Adair County EMS and Adair County Rescue Squad.

Superior Battery hosts community open house and Chamber

Superior Battery hosted members of the Russell County Chamber of Commerce at its main campus, 2515 Hwy 910, Russell Springs, KY for lunch and tours of the plant. The company also held a community open house earlier in the day, June 19, 2018, for the public.

Lunch, catered by Sonny's BBQ of Somerset, was served in the "Superior Battery University" room where "intense day and a half training sessions" take place regularly for employees and for all customers who wish to take advantage of it.
