Jimmy Louis Hughes, 68, Adair County, KY (1949-2018)


He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam Era and was a retired construction worker. He was a member of an outstanding Adair County, KY, family, the son of Chester & Ruth Lee Moore Hughes. His wife, Fern Staton Hughes, survives. He leaves 11 direct living descendants. His final resting place will be in the Lasley Cemetery in the Flat Woods Adair County, KY.

Jimmy Louis Hughes, 68, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 as the result of an automobile accident on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway in Russell County, KY.

Funeral service for Jimmy Louis Hughes will be at 2pmCT, Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Sammy Hughes delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in the Lasley Cemetery Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, on Friday, June 22, 2018.

He was born August 20, 1949, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Chester & Ruth Lee Moore Hughes. He died Sunday, June 17, 2018, in Russell County, KY, at the age of 68 years, nine months, and 28 days.

Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam Era and was a retired construction worker.

Survivors include:
  • His wife - Fern Staton Hughes of Columbia, KY

  • Two sons - Juan Hughes of Louisville, KY; and Adrian Hughes of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter - Pam Hughes of Columbia, KY

  • One brother - Donnie Hughes of Louisville, KY

  • Six grandchildren - Brie', Tre', Bryce, Raysean, Brooklyn and Dakota

  • Two great-grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
