Mystery Wild Flower #78455 is beautiful Purple Phacelia

Wendy Butler Burt writes:
This beautiful flower, Purple Phacelia (Phacelia bipinnatifida), is commonly found in rich, moist woods and rocky slopes. It is said that these flowers yield a flavorful honey. Wide swaths of these flowers, interspersed with the somewhat similar Jacobs Ladder (Polemonium reptans), have been seen on recent walks along the wildflower-strewn banks of Crocus Creek in southern Adair County. - Wendy Butler Burt

Mr. Marshburn: Mystery fossil #78447: Phylum echinodermata

Top view of crinoid stem (like everyone else in Magisterial District 3, and probably all anyone at Rosenbaum's Store talked about. And errant knights & ladies Sammy & Norma Jean Blair and Steve & Nancy McKinney, who patrol the area frequently, could have told us if we had just asked.
About: Fossil find in Crocus Creek - a our house front porch reminder

Charles Marshburn comments on Crocus Creek fossil
If I had to hazard a guess, I would say phylum echinodermata and most likely the top view of a crinoid stem. Those things lived when you wore short pants and played in the surf of a shallow salt sea in Columbia as a youth. That would have been several million years ago and much before my time. Remember? Please don't say you remember. - Charles Marshburn
Thanks - No, in my short-pants day I just remember what wasn't: Wuddn't any coyotes, no deer, and the hardest drink was root beer. - EW.
