The Delightful Falls of Greasy Creek, a Gem of Russell Co., KY

By Robert Ellis

I've spent the largest portion of my life in Adair County and didn't know about this Waterfall until recently. Yesterday was my second visit here and I was hoping there would still be some snow and ice in the Creek.

As the pic reveals, most of the snow was gone but the leftover ice in the Creek and Falls helped to improve the photo, as least it does for me. To the left of the photo is Jobbes Fork. I might add below this Falls is another smaller one.

Delayed notice: January 19 is Crocus-the-Flower Watch start

Photo : Mike Watson: Signs of Early Spring??? Thu 19 Jan 2017
Crocus-the-Flower Watch began Friday, January 19, 2018

By Ed Waggener

With the general populace, including CM, just emerging from hibernation/survical mode during the recent freeze, CM overlooked Billy Joe Fudge's reminder that the annual Crocus-the-Flower Watch begins on January 19 each year, in honor of Mike Watson's January 19, 2015 revelation of his and Renae's Crocus-the-Flower-has-Sprung that year. From a quick perusal of Mr. Fudges catalog of work on CM, February 3 has been the historic first sighting of Crocus Blooms in Kentucky.
