The Delightful Falls of Greasy Creek, a Gem of Russell Co., KY

By Robert Ellis

I've spent the largest portion of my life in Adair County and didn't know about this Waterfall until recently. Yesterday was my second visit here and I was hoping there would still be some snow and ice in the Creek.

As the pic reveals, most of the snow was gone but the leftover ice in the Creek and Falls helped to improve the photo, as least it does for me. To the left of the photo is Jobbes Fork. I might add below this Falls is another smaller one.

Looking at Google maps, this creek empties into Lake Cumberland. Just below the Falls is the newer, larger Hwy 127 bridge, and below that bridge are two more close by that across Greasy Creek.

The oldest of three bridges is picture worthy in and of itself.

In my opinion, this area deserves to be a park.

The only negative thing to report about this place is, sadly, there is trash everywhere...but, nothing that a small company of workers armed with trash bags couldn't fix. - Robert ELlis

Third Bridge Below The Greasy Creek Falls, Russell Co., KY

2018-01-21 - Jamestown, KY - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.com. This is the older, picturesque bridge that was eluded too in the Greasy Creek Waterfall photo. Time appears to have been good to it by enriching it with a colorful, albeit weathered patina...that and a little graffiti. The structure of the second bridge is partly visible in the center of the photo. - Robert Ellis(c)
