Orissa Jai Astar Mora-Kent weds Nicholas Anthony Woodward

The New Year of 2018 began on a brilliant day -- a perfect day for a wedding. This story of the couple's beginning is shared in their own words by the bride and groom. "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. Of their own free will, thankfully, as heirs together in the grace of Jesus Christ, with joy and hope, in fearlessness, surrounded by a tribe that encircles them with love, in faithfulness, ready for adventure, both the valleys and mountains, for better and better, Orissa Jai Astar Mora-Kent married Nicholas Anthony Woodward, for the dancing and the dreaming."

Ellen Zornes: The Canada Geese flights are morning and evening

She loves to hear them, but not so her dog, Lucy

Ellen Zornes writes:
The Canada Geese fly over our house each morning and each evening. When Lucy was a puppy being potty trained, she was scared to death of them. I had to try to time her training times when the geese were not flying over or seen at the ponds around us. Canada Geese mate for life and we heard the most mournful sounds a couple of years ago when one of them had lost its mate. It didn't fly away when the flock did, but waited there several days before it rejoined the flock. We all felt so sorry for the goose! They are beautiful and unlike Lucy, I love to hear their honking as they fly overhead! - Ellen Zornes

Cat Tracker thinks mystery snow formations ARE Snow Donuts

Darryl Smith writes:
Hi, Ed. If you'll look at this picture of cat tracks in the snow, you'll see how the paw impression displaces and concentrates snow into a doughnut shape. When the snow starts to melt, the fluffy, un-compacted snow melts away before the denser areas, leaving the circles you see. If you Google small animal tracks in snow you will find images with the circles. I can't link a url here. -Darryl Smith, cat tracker

More study needed on formations in Russell Co. snow

By Dan Wilson

The snow picture I sent you yesterday have created quite a conversation. I've gotten additional emails and messages saying these is snow doughnuts and snow rollers, but reading how snow rollers and snow doughnuts are formed, what we sent you, does not meet the criteria for either. I am sending the pictures to the National Weather Service in Louisville to see what they say.

What's your thoughts on what it could be?

- Daniel

Daniel: Time was when any Adair Countian would have seen the photo, walked a few paces to our local varmintologist's - Dr. Billy Neat's - PVA office, asked for and would have gotten a straight forward answer, rendered with great certainty, whether the answer was right or not. Alas, since we lost the great man, it is not easy, though God knows and I know that he made every effort to pass his wisdom on to Bill Ballou and Ray Hutchison - and me - all extant examples of prehistoric life here. So we're waiting to hear from our betters at the National Weather Service or in Russell County itself for what the curiosities are. We're posting the photos, just in case someone is channeling Dr. Neat and can come up with something either the correct answer or a compellingly entertaining one. - ED

Andy Beshear applauds PSC ruling in AEP/Kentucky power case

By Terry Sebastian or Crystal Staley

FRANKFORT, KY (18 Jan 2018) - "When AEP/Kentucky Power tried to raise utility bills for Eastern Kentucky families by 16 percent, I promised to fight. When others agreed to a lesser increase, I refused. Because of that fight, today, the PSC issued a series of rulings that the PSC claims will not increase, but actually decrease monthly bills by 4 percent. My office will carefully review the rulings to confirm the decrease. While a decrease would be good news, I understand utility bills in the AEP/Kentucky Power region are still unaffordable, and I will continue to fight so that no family must decide between feeding their children or keeping them warm."
