The vehicle struck the bridge and KYTC personnel are in route to inspect structure damage. Traffic is backed up south of the location. A time estimate to reopen lanes at this location is not available at this point. Traffic on both directions of I65 is moving slowly due to road conditions. Marsha Walker recalls when Columbia was the weather news Marsha Walker writes: In January of 1963, I was at Eastern KY State College in Richmond. Our dorm mother came around one morning to announce we could wear pants to class. This was so exciting! Later that day a weather report said that the temperature in Columbia, KY had reached -30 degrees the night before, the lowest temperature in the nation. Getting to class and back was misery, and I had to do it three times with no gloves. Sergeant Tracy McCarol honored at retirement from CPD By Linda Waggener The City of Columbia personnel, Council and the Columbia Police Department hosted an appreciation luncheon for retiring Sergeant Tracy R. McCarol Thursday, 11 Jan, 2018, in the CPD office. He and his wife Melissa were joined by many members who serve in the local law enforcement community. He grew up in Adair County, graduated from ACHS and has been a first responder his full career. He began working at EMS and stayed there for three years, moving to part time Sheriff's Deputy, then fulltime for eight years in the Sheriff's Office. He has spent the last nine years moving up in the Columbia Police Department from Patrolman to Detective to Sergeant.
