Don Bishop, 82, long-time CU Athletics Director, passes away

"A teacher and coach, Mr. Bishop left a lasting mark on Campbellsville University with his career as Campbellsville's chief athletic administrator, cheerleader and supporter."

Don Bishop, former Campbellsville University Athletics Director and member of the CU Athletic Hall of Fame, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:15amET at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was 82.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT/12pmNoonET on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, with burial in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old US 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation is scheduled on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 5pm-8pmET at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.

"The Campbellsville University family is deeply saddened to learn the passing of Mr. Don Bishop," said CU President Dr. Michael V. Carter. "Mr. Bishop was the epitome of what a true Christian servant leader is. He not only made impacts in our athletics department but in our academic programs and inside the community. The Bishop family has strong ties to Campbellsville College and Campbellsville University and we ask that everyone keep them in your prayers during this difficult time."

Wow! Telemetrics, the scientific technology of measuring, interpreting and transmitting data remotely is beginning to really catch on in the Great Wooded South. For years, it has been a tool of the military for deciphering available data for the accomplishing of goals remotely. From the firing of artillery shells over great distances to putting satellites in orbit around Saturn, Telemetrics has now evolved into some very important domestic, non-military uses.

Bernadine Voight, 89, Cumberland County, KY (1928-2017

She was a retired employee of Johnston Cookie Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and of the Catholic faith. She was a native of Milwaukee, WI, and a resident of Burkesville, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the Late Joseph Miller & Cecelia Kozlowski Miller. Her best friend, Don Bartoshevich of Burkesville, KY, survives. She leaves 11 direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in her adopted Cumberland County, KY.

Mrs. Frances (Ford) -Frankee- Gabehart, 65, Taylor County, KY (1952-2017)

She was a native of Marion County, KY, and a resident of Taylor County, KY, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Mary M. Hill Ford, who survives and the late Joseph L. Ford. She was the widow of Wilbur "Buddy" Gabehart. She leaves two direct and six step living descendants.

Nellie O. Hadley Brown, 85, Dubre, KY (1932-2017)

She had retired from Osh Kosh, worked at Metcalfe Co nursing home, farmed, and was a housewife. She was a member of the Willowshade Church of Christ. She was the matriarch of a respected South Central Kentucky family, the daughter of the late Clarence & Nettie Cooksey Hadley. Her husband of 57 years Robert Brown, survives. She leaves six direct living descendants.

Reminder of New Year’s Holiday Schedule.

The Clerk’s Office will be closed Friday, Saturday, and Monday, December 30 & 31, 2017, and January 1, 2018, for New Years.

We will be open Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Reminder December 31, 2017 is the last day to change political party affiliation and be eligible to vote in that political party affiliation's upcoming primary election.

Due to the holiday schedule, Thursday December 28, 2017 will be the last day for any in office changes.

Voters may also go on line at www.elect.ky.gov to register or make party changes.

Herbert Guy (H.G.) Gilley, Metcalfe Co., KY (1928-2017)

He was a retired school administrator. He was a member and deacon of Dripping Springs Baptist Church. H.G. served in the United States Army in Korea. He was the member of a distinguished Metcalfe County, KY, family. He was the son of the late Herman Guthrie Gilley Sr. & Mattie Faulkner Gilley, and the widower of Edna Drucilla Gilley. He leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Single vehicle accident claims life of Springfield, KY driver

SPRINGFIELD, KY - (27 Dec, 2017) – Tpr Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 3:46pmET, on Bloomfield Road. 67-year-old Donald Ray Carney, of Springfield, was operating a 2008 Dodge Ram on Bloomfield Road when he lost control of the vehicle, exited the roadway, struck a culvert went airborne and landed, overturned, in the ditch line.

Carney was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Coroner and was not wearing a seatbelt. Tpr. Likins was assisted on scene by the Washington County Sheriff's office, EMS and Rescue.
