Mrs. Gloria Joyce (Ivey) Black, Cumberland Co., KY (1935-2017)

She was of Protestant faith and a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late R V & Evelyn Irene (Anthony) Ivey. Her husband of 64 years, Billy F. Black, Burkesville, KY, survives. She was a native of Brinson, GA, and a resident of Burkesville, KY, at the time of her death here. Her final resting place will be in Cumberland County, KY. She leaves 13 direct living descendants.

The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 1pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with burial in the Burkesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 2pmCT, on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 until the funeral hour on Thursday.

CPD investigates injury accident on Public Square

On Monday, December 18, 2017, Columbia Police Department responded to a collision on the Public Square involving two vehicles and city property.

The collision occurred when 55-year-old Nancy King of Adair County was operating a 1994 Cadillac on the Public Square, attempting to merge right to turn onto Jamestown Street.

Julia Marie White Pierce, 81, Green Co., KY native (1936-2017)

She had made a profession of faith in Christ as a child and lived out her faith in many ways, but especially as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born in Green County, KY, and was a resident of Bullitt County, KY, at the time of her death. She was a member of highly regarded Green County, KY family, the daughter of the late William "Joe" White & Nora Catherine Davenport White. Her husband of almost 62 years, Clay Wood Pierce, survives. She leaves 10 direct living descendants.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12noonCT Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church in Green County, KY, with burial to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, in the Grab Community of Green County, KY. Bro. Micah Carr of Peachtree Baptist Church in Byron, GA, officiating. Visitation is requested after 10amCT Wednesday at the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church until time of the funeral service.

Drug arrest results from ACSO traffic stop on Elkhorn Rd


Arrest made this morning, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, in northern Adair County, near Knifley, KY. 49-year-old driver arrested, taken into custody, and now faces allegations of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Note: Charges/allegations are not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Shoplifting arrest made by ACSO during Shop with Sheriff trip

Incident occurs at Columbia Walmart. Suspect arrested by Deputy Joey Keith on shoplifting and meth charges, served four outstanding warrants - three out of Russell County, one from Adair, and was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail, Columbia, KY. Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss and Deputy Brandon Hitch assisted in the apprehension.
Note: Charges/allegations are not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.
