Robert Ellis: Scary woods along Caney Fork Creek

2017-12-09 - Along Caney Fork Creek, Coburg area - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.com.
Ventured out into the cold Saturday and traveled along the Caney Fork Creek hoping to find some color left over from Fall. This particular scene caught my attention and I jokingly sent the image to a friend and called it my "Scary Woods photo" mostly due to the enchanted feel the photo lends. - ROBERT ELLIS. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors; his knowledge of astronomy was paralleled only by his enthusiasm for thunderstorms. Kentucky Color - Monkey Grass Time of Year

It's an import from Asia. It's a low maintenance edge plant which the writer enjoys year round, though at no time more than now, giving the period the name, Monkey Grass Time of the Year
Click on headline for essay with photo(s)

By Billy Joe Fudge, President, Homeplace on Green River

I am generally opposed to most Asian imported plants but at least, the best I can tell, Monkey Grass is on neither the current list of Invasive Species in Kentucky nor the Kentucky Exotic Pest Plant List.

Having said that, I must say that almost all the different varieties are among my favorite landscape ground covers, edging plants and design features, especially in shaded areas.

Bobtail female beagle found - possibly lost by rabbit hunter

A skittish, but apparently well-cared for bobtail, tri-color, female beagle dog appeared in our yard about a week ago. She's friendly, but very timid. May be wearing collar. If this is your dog, please call 270-384-3694.. The dog may have been lost by a rabbit hunter in the government land on Green River. We hope to send a photo when we can get close enough to her. - Kathy & Glenn Hunt
