Drama (LaVerne) McGinnis Davenport, Casey County, Kentucky (1932-2017)

LaVerne was a teacher. She was a member of Athens Church of Christ, Liberty Church of Christ, Willow Oak Church of Christ, and Labascus Church of Christ. In the past, she enjoyed swimming, volleyball, and horseback riding. LaVerne was an excellent Rook player and an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. She was the daughter of the late Edward & Lyda McGinnis and the widow of Murrell Eucledis Davenport. She leaves three direct living descendants.

Drama "LaVerne" McGinnis Davenport, 85, of Liberty, KY, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Liberty Care Center.

The funeral service will be held at 10amCT/11amET on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. J.D. McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9am-10amCT/10am-11amET, on Tuesday, December 12th, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.



Pallbearers will be Ryan Floyd, Johnathan Hopp, Roger McGinnis, Rick McQueary, and Ron Powers.

Born on December 8, 1932, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Edward & Lyda McGinnis. She died Friday, December 5, 2017, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

LaVerne was a teacher. She was a member of Athens Church of Christ, Liberty Church of Christ, Willow Oak Church of Christ, and Labascus Church of Christ. In the past, she enjoyed swimming, volleyball, and horseback riding. LaVerne was an excellent rook player and an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.

She is survived by:
  • Two daughters: Glenda Davenport of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Kimberly Davenport of Nashville, TN

  • One son: Allen Davenport of Liberty, KY

  • A grandson: Ryan Floyd of Liberty, KY

  • A great-grandson: Logan Dale Floyd of Liberty, KY

  • A sister: Janie McGinnis of Scottsdale, AZ

  • Two brothers: Roger McGinnis of Ripley, Ohio, and Mike McGinnis.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Murrell Davenport; two sisters, Laura McGinnis and Jan Moore; and three brothers, Les McGinnis, Jack McGinnis, and Ronnie McGinnis.
