He was a native of Oregon and a resident of Knob Lick, KY, at the time of his death. He leaves two direct living descendants.

Arvin Thomas Micho, age 64, of Knob Lick, KY, passed away Thursday, August, 31, 2017 at his home.

Adair Co. FFA Chapter wins State Firsts & many other top awards

First in Ag Mechanics Exhibit and First in Large Restoration Contest; Second in FFA Quiz Contest; Second in Floriculture Judging; and Ninth in Nursery Judging

Adair County FFA won first place at the Kentucky State Fair in the Best Overall Ag Mechanics Exhibit and first place in the Large Restoration Contest.

The large restoration was a 1951 Farmall Super C, owned by Orvis Grider, and restored by members of the Adair County FFA.

Students who worked the most on the project were, Mason Carter, Collin Dykes, Brady Baker, Gabe Cowan, Cody Hourigan, Jacob Campbell, Bryant Smith and Clint Garrison.

Roads slick, one bridge closed, more expected as water rising

Adair County roads are slick where water is ponding; one bridge on Old Gradyville Road is closed and water is rising -- drivers are advised to use extreme caution

Adair County Road Department Foreman Terry Corbin reports that one bridge on Old Gradyville Road, near Hwy 768, is being closed now, at 11:30amCT, with 6-8" water already covering it.

Another bridge nearby has water rising, only lacking a couple of feet to be at the bridge. He said that all low lying areas will have water coverage as this rain continues and extreme caution should be used by drivers.

Corbin said to treat this Harvey storm-related heavy rain just as when the roads get covered in certain areas during heavy spring rains.

Ashland man receives 30-year sentence in kidnapping, rape case

Defendant received 11-year sentence in Ohio

FRANKFORT, KY. (Fri 1 Sep 2017) - Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Special Prosecutions Unit today announced that a 58-year-old Ashland man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison on kidnapping and on being a persistent felon charges.

Wallace Daniel Spence, of Ashland, was sentenced August 31, 2017, by a Boyd Circuit Judge. Spence was indicted June 6, 2016, by a Boyd County grand jury for kidnapping a 14-year-old girl.

Adair Co. (county gov't) offices closed Labor Day 4 Sep 2017

Adair County/County Government Offices closed for LABOR DAY The offices located in the Adair County Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. will be closed Monday, September 04, 2017 to allow county employees the opportunity to celebrate Labor Day with their families. This closure includes the following: Judge Executive Michael Stephens' office, the Adair County Sheriff's Department, County Attorney Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin's office, and the office of Jeff Feese, PVA.

Also, the Green River Animal Shelter, 455 Appleby Drive, Columbia, KY, and the Adair County Recycling Center, 32 Service RD, Columbia, KY, will be closed.The 911 Center, 107 N High Street, Columbia, KY,will be closed for the same time period, but will continue its 24-hour service for dispatching emergency calls. We hope everyone has a blessed and safe LABOR DAY weekend.

7-County area in path of Harvey Flooding, severe weather risk


6:58amCT update: It's been raining throughout the night. Sandy Ford, at County Line Diner in Coburg cautions drivers to watch for pooling on the roadway, and to be aware that visibility is lower this morning on the Heartland Parkway.

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Harvey Flooding Severe Weather Risk report for 3amCT/4amET, Friday, September 1, 2017 through Saturday morning for a wide area of South Central Indiana and Central Kentucky, which includes the CM 7-County area of Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties.
