Doug McCammish: Working together is what makes MSI great

Engineers and artisans at Columbia facility not only do precise work of great beauty and utility, they also make sure that what they design can actually be made out of wood!
Comments re photo 73277 MSI Artisans Steve Hancock Max Hadley work on bar surround

By Doug McCammish

Steve is correct, of course - the engineers do have to consider how they are going to design very large pieces of furniture (think of a whole judge's bench with witness stand and clerk's desk that might be 30 feet long) so that they can not only be disassembled and reassembled in the courtroom, but will fit that courtroom precisely.

A barely noticed tragedy on roadway in front of Five Star

'My day is saddened that a dear little kitten's life is ended. I will mourn for it as if it were my own.' - JOYCE COOMER
Click on headline for complete story, with reminder: Please care for your animals

By Joyce Coomer

A tiny black kitten lost its life this morning in front of Five Star on Jamestown Hill. I removed the tiny kitten's body from the roadway; its weight and healthy fur told me that it had been well-cared for. Until this morning.

This kitten wasn't old enough nor large enough to have started rambling away from home on its own which makes me believe it was in someone's vehicle and fell out and was subsequently run over, either by its owner's vehicle or another vehicle. I am heartsick.
