Dorothy Dimple Buck, 84, Taylor County/Adair County, KY native (1933-2017)

Mrs. Buck attended the Brethren in Christ Church in Campbellsville, KY and was a supervisor at Edmonton Manufacturing Company in Greensburg, KY for several years. She was a native of Chance, Adair County, KY and a resident of Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY at the time of her death in Columbia, KY. She was the matriarch of a highly regarded family, the daughter of the late Milton & Lena May McIntar Wheet. She was preceded in death by, first husband Robert Calvin Turner (24 Dec 1969), and later by second husband George Buck (9 Jan 2003). She leaves 14 direct living descendants and five step living descendants.

Mr. Franklin Roosevelt (Junk Man) Walker, Knifley, Adair Co., KY (1945-2017)

While proud of his Catholic upbringing, he was also a faithful member of the Knifley Christian Church. He was a former service technician for the RC Cola Company and several chemical companies, and his mechanical side loved to tinker, fix, and build things. Mr. Walker was called to duty in the United States Navy and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. His wife of 53 years, Joyce (Kavich) Walker, survives. He leaves 16 direct living descendants, and one godchild to carry on his legacy. With his passing one sibling of seven children of highly patriotic World War II era born children of the late Bernard & Josephine (Vitt) Walker, survives - a sister, Winston Churchill Walker Buckler.

Mr. Frank Roosevelt "Junk Man" Walker of Knifley, KY, was born in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, on April 28, 1945. He was the son of the late Bernard & Josephine (Vitt) Walker. He departed this life on Friday, March 3, 2017 at his residence in Knifley, Adair County, KY, at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 3 days.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Walker on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11amCT/12pmET in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Hugh Withers will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 700 Old US 68, Campbellsville, KY. Kenny Ray Quinn, 61, Knifley, KY (1955-2016)

He was a member of a leading Adair County, KY, family. He was the president of Green River Window & Door of Columbia, KY, one of a select group local entrepreneurs and employers who have been the driving force and the bedrock of the Adair County economy. He was a dedicated, progressive farmer and the patriarch of a distinguished Adair County family. He was the son of the late Charles Ray & Jacqueline Spires Quinn. His wife Jackie Wilcoxson Quinn, survives. He leaves five direct living descendants.

Adair County Fair selling limited 1st addition 1884 Building prints

Opportunity to buy Numbered and Signed Prints

News from the Adair County Fair

The Adair County Fair is selling prints of the long standing 1884 Building that was on theAdair County Fair Ground for 132 years. The print is a mosaic of pictures that were taken at the 2016 fair. The finished prints are 20 x 13 in size and are priced at $25.00 until March 31, 2017. On April 1, 2017, the prints will be in and the price will be $30.00 each. The prints will be signed and numbered and there will only be 250 copies printed of this historical building. To pre-order yours by March 31, 2017 contact Greg Thomas at gregthomas541@gmail.com. Sarah Adeline Miller, Taylor Co., KY (1919-2017)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and some of her favorite past times were doing seek and find word searches and cross word puzzles. She was a retired schoolteacher, having began her career teaching in the Ireland Community known as Burdick School and Taylor County High School. She later retired after teaching in Jefferson County.

Green County Grand Jury returns indictments 1 Mar 2017

Indictments brought against seven individuals from Greensburg and Campbellsville, and Beaver WV for charges including auto theft, criminal mischief, cultivating, trafficking in marijuana; intimidating participant in legal process, persistent felony offender; receiving stolen property, reckless driving, fleeing/evading police, and fraudulent use of credit card.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The Green County, KY Circuit Court grand jury, Greensburg, KY, returned indictments against the following individuals on Wednesday, 1 Mar 2017:

Gov. Matthew Bevin declares State of Emergency

In response to this week's severe storms. Declaration allows emergency management to utilize vital resources. The emergency order triggers several consumer protection measures and will remain in place for 30 days, but may be extended past that time as needed. This order ensures that any instances of price gouging--including for generators, building supplies, chainsaws, hotel rooms and other necessary goods and services at an exorbitant price in a time of disaster--will be fully prosecuted and held accountable.

FRANKFORT, KY (Fri 3 Mar 2017) -- Gov. Matt Bevin today declared a statewide emergency, in response to the severe storms that battered Kentucky earlier this week.

A powerful weather system with torrential rain, hail, flash flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes tracked across the Commonwealth on Tuesday (February 28) and Wednesday (March 1), resulting in injuries and significant property and infrastructure damage.

Willis Pooler named 2016-17 NAIA Athletics Director of the Year

Pooler led the Lindsey Wilson athletic department to the most successful season in school history in 2015-16. Lindsey Wilson captured the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup as the nation's top NAIA athletic program -- collecting more points than any other institution in the nationwide competition. It marks the fourth-straight season Lindsey Wilson has finished in the top three of the final standings.

FRANKFORT, KY - (Fri 03 Mar 2017) Lindsey Wilson men's basketball scored six of the final seven points to beat Cumberlands (KY) 64-60 today in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at the Frankfort Convention Center.

The fifth-seeded Blue Raiders (21-10) advance to the semifinals where they face top-seeded Life (GA) at 5pmCT on Saturday. Life defeated No. 8-seed Shawnee State (Ohio) 60-57 in today's first quarterfinal.

Lindsey Wilson's strong start and finish in the second half enabled the Blue Raiders to advance to their second straight tournament semifinals.

COLUMBIA, KY - A dominate pitching performance from James Doubet helped the Lindsey Wilson baseball team to a 1-0 shutout victory over Taylor (IN) on Friday evening at Egnew Park.

The senior tossed eight-shutout innings allowing just three hits while striking out nine batters without issuing a walk. The eight innings are the most in a single appearance for Doubet.
