Thoed in a friendly manner, of course

This story will immediately call to mind this story, as only Joe L. Barbee can tell it. But a good read, too: The Story of Soldier Jones at the Adair County Fairgrounds

By Anon

I imagine a recent shooting inspired as many tongue-wagging, truth-devoid blovations -- full speed ahead and damn the facts! -- as did the Great Robbery at First National Bank in Russell Springs, 1971. (Where, oh where. is Pete Walker when we need him??)

Not to defend the shooter or to damn the shootee, but perhaps the former pulled the trigger in a manner a la my youngest uncle.

Poetry by Robert Stone: Time is sifting out

Time is sifting out – a sonnet
by Robert Stone
No questions ever die though answers fade.
As time goes by the sources disappear
the ones who knew no longer can parade,
what once was sure may later seem unclear.

No stories ever sum up all the facts.
Each time the telling chances some small loss,
some similar account from own distracts,
for only young demand no startling gloss.

No memories can ever brighten faint.
When time is sifting out all presents past,
both noise and silence join to drown complaint,
survivals are unsure that they will last.

No love is for forever for it craves
unsatisfied more strength than wind and waves.
- Robert Stone, 13 July 2016
