Saddened that the old AC Fairgrounds are going away Ivan Overton writes: Just wanted to say that it saddens me that the AC Fairgrounds are going away. I have many fond memories of this place. I used to walk from our home on Glenmary Street, in the mid to late sixties, many times for Little League games, swimming at the pool, or going to the Fair. I was allowed to go on my own, something you just couldn't do today at that age. Hard to believe that was 50 years ago now. Hate to see it disappear. Bob Barnes: Hold next year's AC Fair at Industrial Park Comments about: What would you want for the next Adair County Fairgrounds? By Bob Barnes Obviously much work would need to be done concerning utilities but I would like to see our industrial park on North Hwy 55 be next year's location. Aluminum bleachers could definitely be moved in for spectators. Not idea, but porta johns could also be used. Perhaps the electrical needs would be the most expensive part of a new location for the fair. Farmers can apply for CAIP funds 1-19 Aug 2016 By Teresa Bright The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board recently approved $209,000 in Agricultural Development Funds for the 2016 Adair County CAIP program (County Agricultural Investment Program) to be administered by the Adair County Cattlemen’s Association. This program is a 50% cost-share program with a maximum funding of $1,500 per farm operation. CAIP is designed to provide farmers with incentives to allow them to improve and diversify their current production practices. Applications for the 2016 Adair County CAIP program will be available August 1 – August 19, 2016 at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street in Columbia during regular business hours.
