How fitting that Giant Rainbow centered over Coomer home Billy Joe Fudge writes: How fitting that this Rainbow of beauty and promise is exactly centered over Rollen and Myrna Coomer's home. Although I didn't get to see Myrna much, I will certainly miss her. Great lady, great family and all our prayers go out to Rollen, Greg, Joyce and Tony. May the "peace that passes all understanding" flood your hearts and minds. - Billy Joe FudgeComments re photo 65377 Giant rainbow was gift after rains ended 2016-03-13 22:32:28 | Comments | Printable version
KYTC closes KY 449 on 13 Mar 2016 because of fresh mudslide KY 499 was to have been closed tomorrow, 14 Mar 2016 to repair previous mudslides; now, road is closed because additional slides caused by recent rains and repair date is uncertain By Amber Hale The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed KY 449 tonight in Cumberland County between mile point 7 to mile point 8. Closure is due to recent rains which have caused the embankment beneath the roadway to slide. KYTC began making slide repairs last week to the area and plan to complete the repairs tomorrow, March 14, 2016. Engineers will evaluate the area to see if repairs can still be completed tomorrow and determine when the roadway will be reopened. Until roadway is reopened traffic can access KY 449 via KY 1351 to KY 90 east to KY 61 south then onto KY 449. - Amber Hale is Information Officer, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 8 - Somerset, KY Cell: 606-416-2821 2016-03-13 21:54:30 | Comments | Printable version

A drive after the rains finds gift of a huge rainbow By Linda Waggener A Sunday afternoon drive after the weekend rains ended provided an incredible gift, a rainbow that arched high over Loy Cemetery Road in southern Adair County, greater Gadberry/Fairplay, KY. Did you see it? This particular rainbow was like no other Ed or I had ever seen, both ends were visible between us and the tree lines. We checked, there was no pot of gold, but the gift made us feel quite rich. 2016-03-13 19:23:12 | Comments | Printable version
Jon Halsey: Both the issue and the discussion are simple choices Comments re article 81760 Jamey Hayes So many Yes posts make me want to vote No By Jon Halsey Personal commentary I guess that it's sorta like the topic itself. Just because it's there doesn't mean you have to partake. If you don't like the thought of alcohol, don't drink. If you don't like all the articles on the subject, don't read them. Really folk, it really is just that simple. - Jon Halsey 2016-03-13 19:23:01 | Comments | Printable version

Writer amazed smoking allowed in public buildings in Columbia 'It is the right of anyone to smoke if they choose, but smoke at home or away from the population. Please don't put my health in jeopardy.' - MARY BARDIN By Mary Bardn Personal commentary I am amazed Columbia still allows people to smoke in public buildings. However, what amazes me the most is the fact that our local health department tried to get a vote for non-smoking and the magistrates refused because their people were so against the non-smoking.
