Kelvin Bailey: Some Dry posts provide legitimate fodder for PAC

Response to: Wanda Kerns comments on Wet/Dry

By Kelvin Bailey
Personal Commentary

It has to be noted and understood that the recent alcohol related accident in Adair County referred to by Mrs. Kerns happened in a dry county. I've had this same concern with comments posted previously recounting unfortunate events and circumstances that were attributed to alcohol consumption in our county, A Dry County.

These incidents and circumstances could only have existed if either alcohol were purchased in the county illegally or it was purchased in another county and brought into our county (or consumed on the way back to our county).

S.T.L.P. students at Adair Co. Primary Center busy on yearbook

By Laura Marcum

Second grade students who are in the Student Technology Leadership Program (S.T.L.P.) at the Adair County Primary Center have been busy working on their school yearbook. Their first job was to plan the layout of pages.

Next they took class rosters and checked to see who was missing or who needed their name changed (like those who go by their middle name instead of their first). Then they were able to design the class pages with individual pictures, titles, and backgrounds.

We still need to work on our cover and candid photos. Our school yearbook is quite a bit of work but definitely worth it when you see your classmates looking through the book.

Randy Young: Tell these parents about ignorance

Randy Young writes:
At 10:55pmCT on May 14, 1988, Larry Wayne Mahoney, a drunk driver in a pickup truck traveling in wrong direction on a interstate highway in a rural, unincorporated area of Carroll County, Kentucky collided head-on with a gasoline-powered former school bus which was in use as a church bus. The results are 27 deaths and injuries of 34 others. The crash was the deadliest drunk driving incident and third deadliest bus disaster in the U.S. history.

These kids and others were on a trip not drinking and driving but killed by a drunk driver. These kids were being raised right but killed my someone's ignorances. I'm sure you can ask people in Adair County that have lost loved ones by a drunk driver that had no choice was on a trip, town or just out for a trip like these innocence kids. Be careful about using the word ignorance. - Randy Young
