EDA board lacks quorum for meeting

By Ed Waggener
The Columbia/Adair County Economic Development Authority meeting did not have a quorum this morning, Tuesday, January 19, 2017 and no business was conducted. Present for the Board were Chairman Mark Dykes, Member Tony Corbin, and ex officiomember Mayor Curtis Hardwick, and members of the press.

Chairman Dykes commented on the failure of the sewer project at the Green River Industrial Park, but reiterated his plan to complete a build ready pad at the park. A concern is that an existing road runs through the existing planned site. He said that he will be asking for advice from the Alliance Group on relocating the build ready pad.

Great Wooded South: Mr. Fudge sends paper on processed meats

'There was a time when waste not, want no, was not just a discipline but, often times, a matter of life and death. There was simply no grocery store to which one could go to get more.'
Comments re photo 64343. Epicurean Kentuckian What that line on chicken viennies is for

By Billy Joe Fudge

I must apologize for the Great Wooded South University's failure to release the paper addressing this issue. Our Culinary Department has done extensive research concerning processed meats, especially how they originated in the GWS when times were hard.

Glenwood Seminary: Did typhoid end this Bliss institution?

Patricia Bennett writes:
Ed, my mother, Mary Garnett Holladay, always told of those school teachers, or seminary owners. But she also said typhoid cleaned it out in those same waters located on Kenneth Scott, who has served as our Bliss mayor these many years. Mr. Basil Earls, father of the long time winner of the Adair County Ugly Man Contest, both now deceased, drank the water for many years. I wonder if someone might see if what I remember can be corroborated. I think the stone chimney still stands. - Patricia Bennett
